Artist Biography

HENRICO PAUL GREYLING

Henrico Paul Greyling was born in 2001 in Pretoria. Currently he lives in Pretoria and is busy completing his degree in Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria.

Greyling creates most of his works in the sculpture and installation mediums. His considered use of materials and processes to produce thought provoking work illustrate his artistic skill and craftsmanship. His works are known for their tactile value which is produced through his use of rocks, cement, steel and found objects. Greyling’s use of non-traditional art materials and his contemporary application of more traditional materials and methods reflect the postmodern tendencies in his work. Greyling often uses materials from his immediate environment, after which he alters them or add to them to speak about humankind’s interactions with the world around us. By critically engaging in his processes, his interests in the self and memory are explored. His installations focus on viewer interaction which reflects the active elements in memory and remembering.
